Keyword Monitoring
Keyword monitoring checks your web pages for specific words or phrases and alerts you when expected content disappears or unexpected content appears.
Available on: Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans Default frequency: Every 1 hour (configurable)
How it works
Pulsewise fetches the HTML content of your configured URLs and searches for the keywords you specify. Checks are case-insensitive, so "Login" matches "login", "LOGIN", and "Login".
Common use cases:
- Content verification — Ensure critical pages contain expected text (e.g. product names, legal disclaimers, pricing)
- Defacement detection — Alert when unexpected keywords appear on your site
- Dynamic content validation — Verify that API-driven content is rendering correctly
- Compliance monitoring — Ensure required legal text remains on specific pages
Setting up keyword monitoring
- Navigate to the Keywords page for your site.
- If monitoring is not yet enabled, you'll see a setup wizard.
- Add keywords to monitor — enter a keyword and the URL path to check (e.g.
/pricing). - Once you have at least one keyword configured, click Start Monitoring to enable the check.
- After setup, manage keywords from the Settings tab.
Configuration options
For each keyword, you configure:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Keyword | The word or phrase to search for |
| URL path | The page to check (relative to your site's base URL, e.g. /about) |
Check frequency
You can configure how often Pulsewise checks your keywords. Available intervals:
- Every 1 hour (default)
- Every 2 hours
- Every 3 hours
- Every 4 hours
- Every 5 hours
- Every 6 hours
Notifications
Pulsewise sends notifications when a keyword's status changes:
| Notification | Severity | When |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword Not Found | Warning | A keyword was expected on the page but is missing |
| Keyword Found | Info | A previously missing keyword has been found again |
History
The History tab shows a paginated log of all keyword check results, including which keywords were found and which were missing on each check.
Snoozing alerts
You can snooze Keyword alerts during planned content changes. During the snooze period, checks continue running but notifications are suppressed.
