DNS Monitoring

DNS Monitoring

DNS monitoring tracks your domain's DNS records and alerts you when they change. This helps you detect unauthorized modifications, misconfigurations, or issues with DNS propagation.

Available on: Business and Enterprise plans Default frequency: Every 2 hours

How it works

Pulsewise periodically queries your domain's DNS records and compares them against the previously known values. When a change is detected, you receive a notification with details about what was added, removed, or modified.

Monitored record types

Pulsewise monitors the following DNS record types:

  • A — IPv4 address records
  • NS — Nameserver records
  • MX — Mail exchange records
  • TXT — Text records (including SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

Change detection

Each DNS check compares the current records against the previous check. Changes are tracked as:

  • Added records — New records that weren't present before
  • Removed records — Records that existed before but are now missing

DNS history

The DNS history page shows a timeline of all detected changes, making it easy to track when and how your DNS records were modified.
