Broken Links
Broken links hurt your SEO and user experience. Pulsewise crawls your site to find links that return errors, so you can fix them before your visitors notice.
Available on: Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans Default frequency: Every 30 minutes
How it works
Pulsewise crawls your site starting from the homepage, following internal links to discover pages. For each page, it checks all outbound links (both internal and external) and reports any that return error status codes.
Crawler limits
- Maximum URLs: 250 per crawl
- Maximum depth: 5 levels from the homepage
- The crawler respects
robots.txtdirectives
What counts as broken
A link is considered broken when it returns:
- 4xx status codes — Not found (404), forbidden (403), gone (410), etc.
- 5xx status codes — Server errors
- Connection errors — Timeouts, DNS failures, connection refused
Reviewing broken links
The broken links page shows all detected issues with:
- The URL of the broken link
- The page where the broken link was found
- The HTTP status code returned
- When the broken link was first and last detected
